MISER-HKS
(HYBRID KINETIC ENERGY RECOVERY SYSTEM)
MISER-HKS is a hydraulic-propulsion unit that works in tandem with a heavy commercial vehicle’s existing drivetrain. A sophisticated microprocessor control system ensures the best application of power from the existing drivetrain or through the MISER® unit, resulting in dramatically improved fuel consumption, a reduction in carbon emissions, reduced strain on the existing drivetrain and, therefore, a reduction in maintenance and general running costs of the vehicle.

The MISER-HKS installation involves retrofitting energy-recovery components and partial engine-optimisation abilities. The vehicle’s existing drivetrain can “charge” the unit’s storage system for later use.
It can also operate as a parallel system, where drive to the wheels is provided by either the existing drivetrain, the MISER-HKS, or both. This depends on which of the many modes the control system selects. Under certain conditions, the vehicle operator could also change options.
The technology was proven in independent testing at the world-renowned Gerotek Test Facility and showed fuel saving in excess of 40% in specific drive cycles.
MISER-HKS is available on the local market and is already being installed in heavy commercial vehicles. MISER-HKS is retrofitted to heavy-duty trucks, and the payback period could be as short as fourteen months.
Because MISER-HKS is a retrofit solution, it does not replace any of the existing drivetrain’s components. It can also be completely disabled without affecting the vehicle’s existing drivetrain functionality.
